How do people on ocean based oil rigs obtain electricity? HELP PLEASE, FOR A WHOLE DAY PROJECT AT SCHOOL =[?
That was something we had to find out,
How do people on ocean based oil rigs obtain electricity?
We have to finish all of our prac reports, expirements, and answer whichever questions we were given by 2:50.
Any help please? How do people on ocean based oil rigs obtain electricity? HELP PLEASE, FOR A WHOLE DAY PROJECT AT SCHOOL =[?
Oil rigs which are close enough to shore to have pipe lines to get the oil to shore have underwater cables to get power to the rig because it is cheaper (and quieter) than running generators on the rigs. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en%26amp;clien鈥?/a>
Those that use tankers to remove oil are forced to generate power although some use wave action generators for part of their supply. (maybe not yet when I went looking for references)
This site says wind power is also used http://solveclimate.com/blog/20080625/ch鈥?/a>How do people on ocean based oil rigs obtain electricity? HELP PLEASE, FOR A WHOLE DAY PROJECT AT SCHOOL =[?
They use portable generators, which burn gasoline or diesel fuel, to make the electricity they need.
Big Diesel Generators like the others said- found a reference on howstuff works below
it is produced on board with diesel generators
they are about the same size as locomotives gen-sets
I did not find any web page
say you got the information from Guru

Is replacing a oil pan gasket on a 1996 ford wangon a do it yourself project?
It's my experience that this year of ford drivetrain is so tightly packaged that to do what you need will be thwarted at the very onset of such a venture! Trade it away before you even lift it! The shop discount alone will buy you a good, running vehicle on the open market! Your vehicle trades at about 1-2 hundred dollars black-book so for-go the insanity of having it repaired. Is replacing a oil pan gasket on a 1996 ford wangon a do it yourself project?
Yes if you have good jack stands and don't mind getting dirty. Is replacing a oil pan gasket on a 1996 ford wangon a do it yourself project?
Sure. Safety first. Make sure you have it on jack stands, and the wheels blocked. As long as you can clear the lower cross member of your frame, you ought to be able to pull this on your own. drain oil (like for an oil change), remove bolts from the pan. Remove pan (you'll likely need a stiff metal scraper or putty knife for this). Clean the surface of the oil pan and the engine (scrap off old gasket material). Intall new gasket on pan. Reinstall pan. That ought to do it. But make sure you can get the pan off. I am not familiar with this model. If the crossmember or other framing/exhaust/bracketry items are in the way, this can be a problem.
Run down to your local library and get a Chiltons or similar manual for your year vehicle and see what they recommend. Good luck.
Yes doing that is not that hard just make sure you have what she said below and make sure your gasket is on right and tighten all the bolts a little at a time around the pan, so it wont leak.

Can I use cooking oil on my sewing machine? I am in the middle of a sewing project and don't have machine oil.
DON'T DO IT! It'll gum up your machine and you'll either have a frozen sewing head, or you'll have to clean out the machine and relube properly, or pay to have it done. And don't use WD-40 -- it's a solvent, not a lubricant.
I don't think I've ever had quite the mess I did with a machine as the one the owner used olive oil on. ACK! I wished for a miniature putty knife to get it out with. ';Drying'; oils like vegetable oils turn into putty when exposed to air for very long.
If no sewing machine oil, look around in the workshop for ';Triflo'; oil (motorcyclists seem to use it for something -- the local Harley shop always has some) or fishing reel oil. Or just go hit the nearest Wallyworld or fabric store for a tube of real sewing machine oil.Can I use cooking oil on my sewing machine? I am in the middle of a sewing project and don't have machine oil.
If your oil light came on in your car, would you pour vegetable oil into your engine?
Both are called oil because they exhibit viscosity, or resistance to flow. And there are different viscosities, just like you wouldn't use 50w100 oil in your car (unless you have no rings left at all), you have to watch what you use in your sewing machine.
And lastly, different oils are made from different chemicals. Some will actually cause more damage to your machine than if you didn't use it at all.
Hell, I can't even use car oil in my motorcycle and here you are talking about totally foreign substances in your machine. Don't do it.Can I use cooking oil on my sewing machine? I am in the middle of a sewing project and don't have machine oil.
Cooking oil is made from vegetable matter and will decay quickly.
Go out to get some machine oil that will not gum up your machine.
Simple answer yes, by all means.
