I have to do a marine science lab project. I need to show a simple way to clean up an oil spill.?

My friend used a bowl of water, the water being the oil and then used a sponge to soak up the water. So that was her solution to the oil spill to soak it up. I need something simple like that but it can't be the same, any suggestions?I have to do a marine science lab project. I need to show a simple way to clean up an oil spill.?
Well, in real life they make this perimeter around the spill to keep it from spreading.

You could do the same as your friend, except use thick yarn to ';corral'; the oil, and then use a long straw to suck it out.

PS: Don't suck the oil into your mouth, just suck on the straw to get the flow going and make it lead into another bowl. HINT: the straw needs to be pointing in a downwards slope or else gravity won't allow the flow to continue.I have to do a marine science lab project. Small vacuum.
do a little research on the Exxon Valdez accident and get ideas from them.

Dawn Dishwashing liquid said their product was used after the Exxon spill to get the oil off the ducks in Alaska.
